From Lisbons Rossio Square the elegant 18th century Baixa radiates towards the Tagus River. This is an area brim-full of smart shops ideal for that last-minute present. Christmas Eve in the sensuous city of Málaga will be a day of celebration as our sister-ship Black Watch is also in port. An indulgent Christmas Day is spent at sea with a traditional lunch, parlour games, evening buffet and spectacular cabaret; even Father Christmas puts in an appearance with a present or two! A little malmsey in Madeira will put you in the mood for that perennial favourite of an exhilarating wicker sledge ride down cobbled mountain paths festooned with flowers on Boxing Day. Dominated by La Caldera de Taburiente, La Palma is a pastiche of black volcanoes, emerald lagoons, lush forests and cool rivers. The volcanic landscape of tropical forest, secluded bays, deep ravines and quiet villages, has earned La Gomera a place on UNESCOs World Heritage list. A late night stay in Las Palmas, allows time to explore this island that basks under a cobalt-blue African sky; from the desolate and mountainous interior, to the untrammelled coastline around Puerto de las Nieves. Dominated by Pico de Tiede Spains tallest mountain - Tenerife is where you will welcome the New Year. Festivities include a traditional Scottish gala dinner, including the ceremonial piping in of the haggis. After showtime, which continues the theme of Hogmanay, the night sky is illuminated by a multitude of fireworks. A spectacular and unforgettable welcome to 2005.
Accommodation
Black Prince - 17 nights, full board
A vital element of Black Prince's unique character is the sense of space, good taste and warmth you'll find aboard, accentuated by the soft hues of a graceful, carefully co-ordinated décor. Creating a civilised atmosphere that perfectly epitomises the values and priorities of her passengers. Black Prince makes a reassuring oasis of comfort to return to at the end of a day's visit ashore.
One thing you'll certainly have no problem in spending aboard Black Prince is - energy! There's an impressive indoor health, fitness and beauty centre (complete with its own pool) - as well as the Lido Deck outdoor pool, Jacuzzis, and extensive deck space offering quoits, chess and other shipboard pastimes. As evening falls the less demanding pleasures of the Lido Lounge and Bar await, or the tranquil Aquitaine Lounge - a perfect retreat for those quieter moments - and the spot for a relaxing drink to a background of soft piano music. Or you can opt for the livelier mood and entertainments of the Neptune Lounge, the vivacious stage for Showtime. Bars stay open late for the 'night owls' who may feel the need to 'flutter' at the casino.
