Located in the Savoie region close to the Italian boarder, Tignes is France’s principal high-altitude resort. It offers superb access to the Espace Killy ski-area with its neighbour Val d’Isere. Tignes' height and location ensure its exceptional snow-sure conditions and long ski season. The resort statistics are as impressive - a total vertical drop of 1,900m and 97 lifts including two high-speed funiculars, four gondolas and four cable cars. Few resorts can match this staggering form. Unsurprisingly, it is a paradise for all skiers, especially intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders.

By level, the resort is split into two main villages - Le Lac, at the heart of things, and Val Claret, high up by the lifts to the glacier. The smaller hamlets of Lacachet and Les Boisses lie further down the valley and cater for mainly the French and Weekenders. The exception to this is the quaint farming village of Les Brevieres, which is always popular with Brits.

Tignes centres around three small villages sitting above the tree line at 2100m. The resort forms part of the extensive Espace Killy ski area, which also covers neighbouring Val d'Isere. The two resorts are easily accessed from each other and together provide a huge variety of terrain for all skiers and snowboarders, from challenging off piste powder to leisurely cruising runs. Off the slopes, the majority of the apres ski and evening entertainment can be found in Val Claret whilst a number of shops, restaurants and the cinema are found around Le Lac. There is also a pool, bowling alley, leisure centre and climbing wall in the various villages as well as ice diving in the lake for the more hardy souls.
